There are so many things I keep playing over and over in my head. But most of all I am thankful. So when I got home this evening from work I just slept. I wanted to get started on the floors, but my body was crashing from all the adrenaline, so it just needed to rest. Keil was able to get some much needed rest in this morning after he made sure I was ok and talked me through my panic.

Today we woke up to snow and ice and it became a drive to work like no other. I first stopped at the new house to make sure everything was ok there and then continued on my way. A little ways down the road I noticed the car in front of me was slowing down. So I started slowing down by pumping my brakes. Well, that didn't work, and unfortunately I started to slide, and spin, and I wasn't able to gain control and just had to pray that God would take the wheel and direct the path of my car. All I could think about was the large gravel truck that was coming at me in the opposite direction, I remember seeing that I was sliding sideways towards it. Then in a matter of seconds I was on the grass back on my side of the road and was headed down in to the ditch backwards. Thankfully I didn't hit anything! Not even the road sign that was only a foot away from my tracks. Needless to say I was shaking, but when I realized all that could have happened I was so thankful for only ending up in the ditch. A couple of people stopped to make sure I was ok. And one made sure I got back on the road safely after I talked to Keil. There are so many things I keep playing over and over in my head. But most of all I am thankful. So when I got home this evening from work I just slept. I wanted to get started on the floors, but my body was crashing from all the adrenaline, so it just needed to rest. Unfortunately today was a bust for roofing - raining, cold, and very windy. Instead he loaded up the trailer so we could take all the old shingles to the dump. Today he also conquered the rest of the carpet removal. That had to be a disgusting job. He sent me a couple of pics to show me the living room floor. It is quite interesting and needs a bit of work and TLC. My job this week will be to go around the rooms and remove the rest of the tack strips and staples to get it ready for sanding this weekend. The spare bedroom’s floor is in great shape, the living room, well, let’s just say it’s going to have character :).
Today we spent the day finishing up the top part of the roof, finishing the installation of the water heater exhaust pipe, fixing the leaks around the wood stove chimney, and caulking some of the areas around the doors and windows that were getting beaten by the weather. We still have a lot to do before winter sets in, but we are making progress.
