Today's the day!! We are finally to a point where we can move stuff in! It's been a very long, but rewarding, 4 months. Friends came by this morning ready to help us with the heavy lifting. We were able to get the couch, front loaders, bed, safe, dressers, etc. over so we can finally have a warm place to sleep!

Our First Christmas Tree...

Tonight we went hunting - not for deer - but for a REAL LIVE Christmas Tree! And it had to happen tonight - because tonight is the last night Keil and I will be together until next Sunday! So the hunt was on. First we went to Bomgaars. They had some cute trees until we realized that most of them had been PAINTED! Really!?! The only one that hadn't been painted had lost it's top...somewhere. LOL.

So we ended up finding a lot that was run on the "Honor System". Only in Small Town USA - I tell ya. So we picked out a cute little tree, took our pictures with it, stuffed it into the back of the Mazda, wrote our check and dropped it in locked mailbox, and then took our Christmas Tree Adventure Selfie :)
Got it home! Now to get it watered and decorated! But first.... what do you think of our new Christmas PJ's? :)

We called in the professionals

This weekend my parents came up to help with more of our projects so we can get some things moved in before Christmas. We focused on the baseboards, trim, cleaning, painting the kitchen, cleaning out the wood stove, fixing the chimney for the wood stove, and then some odds & ends. It was a LOT of work - but we got TONS done! We were so grateful for all the help!!! I am adding captions to some of these photos so you will know what's going on in them :).
First job is to get all of the wood off the porch...through the window.
Next we get all the wood off the porch and on to the trailer.
Keil's creating us a secret doorway through the plastic that is covering the Knotty Pine (so I don't get paint on it) :)
Dad starting the sanding.
Pete supervising
Staining the boards
Sealing the boards with Polyurethane.
Photo op :)
Finished baseboard and trim drying on the porch for the night.
Keil and dad got some of the baseboards up before they had to leave to go home.
Here is Keil working in to the evening to get more up.
Keil found this on holding the wood stove chimney together on the roof. I am pretty sure FOIL is not the recommended fix. OMG!
Keil can now add "Chimney Sweep" to his resume!
After removing the FOIL, he fixed the chimney properly and safely for this winter. There are some things that will need to be replaced next spring, but at least it is safe to use now.
Keil working on getting the wood stove cleaned out.
Mom working on cleaning the grime out of the shower, and the kitchen. WOW! You should see the difference!
Kitchen Primer paint DONE!!!
Totally loving our kitchen chimney brick!!!
I was sad I wasn't in any of the pics, so my mom took a couple pics of me painting the new color in the kitchen.
